Vuescan vs lightroom 611/10/2023 ![]() Little did I know that before the Glen Canyon Dam was built upstream from the Grand Canyon, the water in the river was red-brown and muddy. I have always enjoyed the contrast of the bright green of the river water with the reds, maroons and browns of the cliffs and rock faces. On most of the pictures in this post, I used the light meter in the camera and operated the manual focus in the lenses well enough for a sharp, properly exposed image. I used a tripod and a remote shutter release. ![]() While I (again) took no notes, I did do one thing that a serious photographer would do. I took most of the pictures in this post on this day. Bright sunshine alternated with clouds and rain, but as it turned out, the weather wasn’t bad for most of the day. A bolt of lightning was followed by thunder in short order. We arrived late on a cold grey afternoon and after checking into our hotel, we took a spin along West Rim Drive. ![]() Our visit was a few weeks before the beginning of the high season, so we were free to drive our rental car inside the park, and to stop wherever it was legal to stop. During the high season, visitors are required to ride shuttle buses to the various viewpoints and trailheads on the South Rim. We stayed in a motel in Grand Canyon Village. The first stop on the trip was the Grand Canyon. Back in March 1999, my wife Karen, younger daughter Danielle and I took a trip to Arizona. ![]()
